In the beginning of the 80ies Johnny and Joey Gioeli were members of a Band called PHAZE, at that time they covered songs from Kiss, Judas Priest and others. The year 1983 saw the birth of the Band KILLERHIT, also with Johnny and Joey Gioeli. At that time Johnny Gioeli decided to stop playing drums so he can put his main focus on just being a great Frontman and Leadsinger. In 1987 they decided to change the Band`s name into BRUNETTE. The Music Style they played at that time could be best described as a Mixture of Hardrock, Glamrock and Metal. In 1991 Brunette split up altough they built a strong Fanbase and had many sold out Shows but they never got a Record Deal so they decided to quit the Band. After the Split of Brunette the two Gioeli Brothers continued making music, they wrote many songs for a project they simply wanted to call BROTHERS.
At that time Neal Schon ( Journey ) was dating the sister of the Gioeli`s. One evening Neal Schon was at the house and he heard some kind of noise from the living room and he looked inside this room and saw Johnny and Joey Gioeli rehearsing for their project called BROTHERS. That eveing they rehearsed the song FACE THE NIGHT which would appear 11 years later on Hardline`s Comebackalbum II. Neal Schon really liked the music of the two Gioeli brothers so he asked them if he can be the producer for their project BROTHERS. So Neal started producing the music. But Neal Schon wasn`t lucky with just beeing the producer, he wanted to be in this Band. At first Johnny and Joey Gioeli said no to Neal Schon beeing in their Band because they had another vision of the Band. But after some time they changed their minds and Neal Schon was in the Band. After some time the Band name HARDLINE was choosen. Neal Schon brought Deen Castronovo with him and Todd Jensen joined on bass and the Line up was complete.

1992 saw the release of Hardline`s first Album "Double Eclipse". Hardline`s first Album was a collection of powerfull produced Hardrock pearls including such Killer songs as "Hot Cherie", "Takin` me down", "Rhytm from a red car" and emotional Ballads such as "Hands of Time" & "Can`t find my way". The Japanese version of "Double Eclipse" featured the unreleased track "When love leads the way". For "Double Eclipse "Hardline shot three videos ( "Hot Cherie", "Takin` me down" & "Can`t find my way"). Hardline went on tour with Van Halen, Extreme & Mr.Big but they also played their own very successfull Clubtour.

After the Tours to Double Eclipse Hardline had a meeting with their new A&R Manager at MCA Records at that time. This new person at MCA Records told Hardline that he wanted the next Hardline Record to be produced by a producer of his choice. Neal Schon who was responsible for the Producer`s job for "Double Eclipse " wanted to produce and mix Hardline`s next Album again so he wasn`t happy about that. After some time Neal Schon started getting rude to the A&R Manager and the next Day after that meeting Hardline lost their Record Deal. That was the end of the Double Eclipse Lineup. Deen Castronovo left with Neal Schon to do another Journey Record and Todd Jensen left the Band too.

The two Gioeli Brothers tried to carry on the Hardline legacy with new musicians but after some time they decided to stop making music because they were very frustrated of the Music Business and they started to go into the Computer Business having their own very successfull Internet Company that they still own today.

In 1998 Johnny Gioeli was announced to be the new Lead Singer for German Metal Outfit "Axel Rudi Pell ". Besides "Axel Rudi Pell" Johnny Gioeli started to sing on a few more projects. The year 2002 saw the long awaited second Album called "II" with a complete new Hardline Lineup ( Johnny & Joey Gioeli, Bobby Rock, Josh Ramos, Michael T. Ross & Christopher Maloney ) which was released through the great Melodic Rock Label Frontiers. This Album includes some rearranged songs by the Band BRUNETTE ( Do or Die & Your Eyes ) and also some old Hardline tunes together with a few new tunes. A few weeks before the official Release date of "II" Hardline were invited to be the Headliner for the legendary Hardrock Festival "The Gods "which takes place every year in England. The Concert was a great success which can be seen on the 2003 CD&DVD release "Hardline Live at the Gods 2002 " which was also released through Frontiers Records.
